Opens April 12
Symphony InSight: Children’s Visions Of Classical Music
April 12 – May 31, 2013
Young artists from four Marin schools explored feelings evoked by symphonic music in creating original paintings with Youth in Arts Mentor Artists. Students aged 3-12 from Mary Silveira, Marindale, Bahia Vista, and Willow Creek Academy worked with Suzanne Joyal and Julia James, listening to music from the Marin Symphony’s February Family Concert and then using a range of painting techniques to create original works. Some student works were displayed digitally at the Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium during the Symphony performance.

Youth in Arts offers FREE Gallery Tours for school and youth group field trips. Tours for this exhibit focus on how musicians and visual artists inspire one another, on responding to story and emotional elements in music and visual art and on creating sounds and images that reflect feelings. Students will be able to explore art in the gallery and create their own work in a hands-on activity.
