Perfect Flower by Capacitor Dance
November 2, 2010, Veteran's Memorial Auditorium, 9:30 & 11 a.m.
Capacitor creates boundary-breaking contemporary dance works in collaboration with members of the scientific community. Artistic Director Jodi Lomask worked with researchers from the California Academy of Sciences and architects of the Academy's "Living Roof" to develop The Perfect Flower, featuring sinuous movement, raw feats of strength, and elegant suspensions around steel motion sculptures. Recommended for Grades 2-8
It's a Holiday! with Dream Circle

Youth in Arts annual winter holidays sing-along is a perennial favorite you won't want to miss! Join favorite Marin children's recording artists Tim Cain, Miss Kitty, Cindy Cohen Levy, Christopher Smith, Peter Penhallow and the Dream Circle Band to share songs about Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year and other joys of the season. Recommended for Pre-K to Grade 2.
Kalahari, Voices of South Africa

Led by Zulu Spears co-founder and South African native Gideon Bendile, Kalahari offers a rich glimpse into different South African cultures through song and dance. Enjoy the famous "Click Song" in the Xhosa language and lively Gumboot dance, once used as a code of communication in the mines of South Africa. Recommended for Grades 2-8.
The Paper Princess and the Pinata
A Youth in Arts World Premiere

Join Youth in Arts for our first World Premiere production based on Elisa Kleven's popular Paper Princess book series. Celebrate creativity and adventure as the brave little Paper Princess travels to Mexico with the migrating Mariposas! Featuring original bilingual music by Miguel Martinez. Supported in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the San Francisco Foundation. Special Family Performance on Saturday, February 5. Darwin the Dinosaur by CORBiAN

Darwin is a dinosaur - a wild and primitive creature. Exploring his world, he encounters many different types of living creatures, learning the value of both good and bad, friends and enemies. CORBiAN's unique neon light puppetry will delight students of all ages, from dino-loving youngsters to older children and adults wondering “how do they do that?!”(a discussion with the creators follows the performance). Recommended for all ages.
Pinocchio by Masque Unit Jr. Theatre

Old Italy comes to life in Masque Unit Junior Theatre’s production of Pinocchio, its forty-ninth live musical for children. Pinocchio’s bravery and offer of sacrifice saves the day in this retelling of the classic tale of the wooden puppet who yearns to become a real boy. Recommended for Grades K-3.
The Gizmo Guys! Objects in Motion

Allan Jacobs and Barrett Felker have made numerous television appearances, won international juggling competitions, and taught at top circus schools. Now catch their uniquely winning combination of dazzling technique and infectious humor in a live show infused with science concepts like gravity, center of balance and pattern identification. Sidesplitting laughter and learning, all at the same time. Recommended for Grades K-5.
Caps for Sale and Three Billy Goats Gruff by Hudson Vagabond Puppets

Hudson Vagabond’s delightful puppetry has charmed Youth in Arts audiences with performances such as Mammoth Follies and Butterfly. Now the company bring’s Esphyr Slobodkina’s charming tale of a frustrated cap salesman and some mischievious monkeys to life onstage, along with the classic story of three brave billy goats determined to outwit a nasty ogre. Recommended for PreK-Grade 3.
Cinco de Mayo with Ballet Folklorico Netzahualcoyotl

Founded in 1996, Ballet Folklorico Netzahualcoyotl is dedicated to researching and sharing some of Mexico’s most prized gifts--its folklore, dances, customs and traditions! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with these talented and dedicated dancers, ranging from children to young adults. Learn about the regional dances of Mexico and let them inspire your students to consider what young people can achieve through the arts. Recommended for all ages.
