Request for Proposal (RFP): “My Voice Matters” Youth in Arts Exhibition

We invite young artists aged 11-19 to submit proposals for a self-curated visual art show titled “My Voice Matters,” to be displayed at the YIA Gallery, a children-focused art gallery dedicated to celebrating the creativity and vision of local youth. This exhibition aims to highlight the power and significance of student voices through visual art, providing a platform for these emerging artists to express their thoughts, experiences, and perspectives on the world around them. Youth in Arts will select 2-5 artists to participate in the exhibition. 

My Voice Matters

Theme: “My Voice Matters” is more than just a title—it’s a call to action. We encourage you to explore themes of identity, personal experience, social justice, or any other subject that resonates with your sense of self and your role in the world. Your art should reflect your unique voice and how you wish to be heard and understood by others.

Eligibility:

• Artists must be between the ages of 11-19, in middle or high school at the time of submission.
• Artwork must be original and created by the artist submitting the proposal, or by students directly connected to the artist.
• Artists must have at least 10 artworks ready for display to be considered for the show.
• Artists from all backgrounds and levels of experience are encouraged to apply.
• The YIA Gallery is open to people of all ages, so please make sure your artwork is suitable for a family audience.

Submission Requirements:

1. Artist Statement:
   • A brief introduction to yourself and your artistic practice (200 words).
   • Explanation of how your proposed exhibition reflects the theme “My Voice Matters” and why this theme is important to you (300 words).
2. Artwork Details:
   • A digital portfolio of at least 10 pieces of artwork that will be included in the exhibition.
   • For each piece, include title, medium, dimensions (height x width in inches)
3. Installation Requirements:
   • Any special requirements for installation (for example: special lighting, display stands, etc).

Evaluation Criteria:

• Artistic Vision: How clearly and powerfully the exhibition conveys the theme “My Voice Matters.”
• Cohesion: How well the individual artworks fit together to create a unified narrative or message.
• Feasibility: Practicality of the proposed layout and installation plan within the gallery’s resources.

Key Dates:

• Submission Deadline: November 19, 2025
• Notification of Selection: November 21, 2025
• Exhibition Installation: December 1-5, 2025
• Exhibition Opening Reception: December 5, 2025; 5:00-7:00pm

Invitamos a jóvenes artistas de 11 a 19 años a presentar propuestas para una exposición de arte visual autogestionada titulada “Mi Voz Importa”, que se exhibirá en la Galería YIA, una galería de arte infantil dedicada a celebrar la creatividad y la visión de la juventud local. Esta exposición busca resaltar el poder y la importancia de las voces estudiantiles a través del arte visual, brindando una plataforma para que estos artistas emergentes expresen sus pensamientos, experiencias y perspectivas sobre el mundo que los rodea. Youth in Arts seleccionará de 2 a 5 artistas para participar en la exposición.

Mi Voz Importa

Tema: “Mi Voz Importa” es más que un título: es un llamado a la acción. Los animamos a explorar temas de identidad, experiencia personal, justicia social o cualquier otro tema que resuene con su sentido de sí mismos y su papel en el mundo. Su arte debe reflejar su voz única y cómo desean ser escuchados y comprendidos por los demás.

Requisitos:

• Los artistas deben tener entre 11 y 19 años y estar cursando la escuela secundaria o preparatoria al momento de la presentación.
• Las obras deben ser originales y creadas por el artista que presenta la propuesta o por estudiantes directamente vinculados al artista.
• Los artistas deben tener al menos 10 obras listas para su exhibición para ser considerados para la muestra.
• Se anima a artistas de todos los orígenes y niveles de experiencia a participar.
• La Galería YIA está abierta a personas de todas las edades, así que asegúrese de que su obra sea apta para un público familiar.

Requisitos de presentación:

1. Declaración del artista: Una breve introducción sobre usted y su práctica artística (200 palabras).

• Notificación de selección: 21 de noviembre de 2025
• Instalación de la exposición: del 1 al 5 de diciembre de 2025
• Inauguración de la exposición: 5 de diciembre de 2025 5:00-7:00 p. m.
