San Rafael, CA – Given all the positive feedback received, Youth in Arts is thrilled to announce the extension of “My Voice Matters,” an inspiring new exhibition at the YIA Gallery, now on view through December 13, 2024. This innovative show features the work of high school artists Heath Carbone, Lea Ortiz, and Maddie O’Sullivan, each of whom has been selected for their robust proposals that explore themes of identity, personal experience, and social justice.
The public is invited to join us for a special closing reception during San Rafael’s 2nd Friday Art Walk on December 13, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Attendees can meet the artists, and experience the powerful narratives that shape their creative expressions. There will be a FREE hands-on artmaking opportunity designed for artists of all ages, offered in Youth in Arts’ Art Lab.
“My Voice Matters” marks Youth in Arts’ inaugural student-curated exhibition, providing a platform for these emerging artists to shine. Each artist submitted a compelling proposal that reflects their unique perspectives and experiences, making this show a celebration of individuality and youth voice.
“Youth in Arts is excited to showcase the voice of these talented young artists,” shared Executive Director Taylor Buttrey. “This exhibition highlights Youth in Arts’ commitment to empowering artists as they share their perspective, initiative and creativity with our community.”
Don’t miss the chance to experience “My Voice Matters” and support the next generation of artists as they take center stage at the YIA Gallery. For more information about the exhibition and upcoming events, please visit youthinarts.org.
