San Rafael, CA — October 30, 2024 — Youth in Arts is delighted to announce the appointment of Taylor Buttrey as its new Executive Director. With extensive experience in program development, community engagement, and arts education, Buttrey brings a strong commitment to equitable and responsive arts programming that aligns with Youth in Arts’ mission to empower young artists.

Buttrey holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco and has previously served as Program Director at One Step Beyond in San Carlos, California, Director of Development at The Opportunity Tree in Phoenix, Arizona and Arts Program Manager at Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services in Scottsdale, Arizona – all organizations that provide support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  

“I am thrilled to join Youth in Arts and to work alongside such a dedicated and talented team,” said Buttrey.  “I have seen the transformative power of the arts firsthand, and I am committed to providing accessible, equitable and engaging opportunities for young artists to thrive in their creative journeys.”

In his new role, Buttrey will focus on strengthening existing programs, developing new initiatives, and expanding community involvement to further elevate the mission of Youth in Arts.

“Taylor’s experience and deep passion for the arts make him a great fit for this role at Youth in the Arts,” said Jane Burkhard, Youth in Arts’ Board President.  “We are excited about his vision and strategic approach to program and community development and look forward to working with him to broaden Youth in Arts impact.”

Youth in Arts is a 53-year-old, San Rafael-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and innovative arts education programs that foster confidence, compassion and resilience in students of all backgrounds and abilities. Through direct education in school partnerships as well as through local and statewide advocacy, their programs impact the lives of thousands in- and around San Francisco’s North and East Bay Area. Youth in Arts insists that access to a creative life is a right for all students.
